GRETEL THE GINGERBREAD

GRETEL THE GINGERBREAD 👩‍🍳

free gingerbread crochet pattern

Gretel measures 11’’ high and 7.5’’ wide

Hi guys ! At the end of this article, there is the downloadable file ( pdf ) for this crochet pattern 🥰

Supplies

Some of the supplies are bought on Amazon, the links are indicated ( in italics ).

Red Heart yarns super saver, cafe latte, 198g : 333m. Really loved the color and it’s pretty cheap compared to the quantity 😬 here . You can also find it at Michael’s.

Green & red 100 % cotton yarns . Only a little bit of each, for buttons, smile & sprinkles. I would recommend to buy a set of a lot of colors that you can keep using for other creations. ( It’s what I did when I started and still use some of it ). For example this one.

Gold lurex, I’ve been using these ones for years now. They are very thin and easy to work with.

White yarn 100% cotton . For the icing and the eyes. You can use the white yarn from the set linked before.

Green sewing thread, 4.5 inches maximum for the bottom of the mouth. It has the be thin to be ” invisible ”

Crochet hooks : 3 mm ( for coton yarns ) & 5,5 mm ( for Red Heart yarn ). I bought this kit years ago and still use it.

Safety eyes: 9 mm . here

Darning needle and thin sewing needle. Darning needles are provided in the crochet hooks kit from Amazon.

Toy stuffing : this one is good in term of quantity and price. Some can be very expensive and filled with air. ( like chips bags 😋)

Stitch markers. Same, it’s provided in the hooks kit.

Two mini sequins stars for the cheeks. Found mines at Michaels but you can also order some here.

Transparent craft glue. Make sure to pick a special craft glue such as this one.

Notes before starting

  • Do not stuff your creation too much to keep the ‘’ flat ‘’ aspect of a gingerbread.
  • To avoid too much sewing, Gretel is assembled in one single piece. Only the arm, the icing and the buttons are separated pieces.
