MR. CHRISTMAS TREE 🎄

Free christmas tree crochet pattern

Mr. Christmas Tree measures 7 inches tall and 2.5 inches large

Supplies

Yarn 100% cotton Naturaline from Coop (50g = 120m). Half of a yarn. Green Color

100% acrylic Lisa Premium Uni from Gründl (50g = 133 m ). Half of a yarn. Color ‘’ 22 bain ’’

Yarn 100% cotton Alison&Mae from Action (10g = 25m). You will need Red, White, Yellow and light Pink small yarns.

Green sewing thread (Around 20 inches).

Gold Lurex

Crochet hook: 3 mm & 4 mm

Safety eyes: 8 mm

Toy stuffing

Darning needle and thin sewing needle.

Two stitch markers ( 2 different colours )

Transparent craft glue

2 cardboard circles of 2 inches diameter each

Abbreviations (English US)

R: round
Sc: single crochet
Ch: chain
Inc: increase
Dec: decrease
Dc: double crochet (UK: treble)
FLO: front loop only
BLO: back loop only

The Crown
Green yarn & 4 mm hook

R0 : magic circle
R1 : 6 sc in the magic circle (6)
R2 : 6 inc (12)
R3 : (1 sc, 1 inc) x6 (18)
R4 : (2 sc, 1 inc) x6 (24)
R5 : (3 sc, 1 inc) x6 (30)
R6 : (4 sc, 1 inc) x6 (36)

Insert a stitch marker ( for example a red one ) in the back loop of the first stitch of R6.
It will be helpful at the start of R7back.

R7front : FLO, (1 dc, 1 sc ) x 18 (36)
Cut the yarn, fasten off and weave the end in with the darning needle.
Pick back up the green thread and go to your red stitch marker
(BL of R6)

R7back : BLO, 1 sc in all 36 stitches (36)
From R8 to R10 : 1 sc in all 36 stitches (36)
Add one of the cardboard circle in order to flatten the bottom of the crown.

R11 : (4 sc, 1 dec) x 6 (30)
From R12 to R14 : 1 sc in all 30 stitches (30)

R15 : (3 sc, 1 dec) x 6 (24)
From R16 to R18 : 1 sc in all 24 stitches (24)

R19 : (2 sc, 1 dec) x 6 (18)
From R20 to R22 : 1 sc in all 18 stitches (18)
Start stuffing
R23 : (1 sc, 1 dec) x 6 (12)
From R24 to R26 : 1 sc in all 12 stitches (12)
As it decreases, continue stuffing

R27 : 6 dec (6)
From R28 to R29 : 1 sc in all 6 stitches (6)
Finish stuffing

R30 : ( 1 sc, 1 dec ) x2 (4)
Cut the yarn, fasten off and weave the end in with the darning needle. Do not worry if the finishing is not
perfect, the Star will be covering it 😊 )

The Trunk
Brown yarn & 4 mm hook

R0 : magic circle
R1 : 6 sc in the magic circle (6)
R2 : 6 inc (12)
R3 : (1 sc, 1 inc) x6 (18)
R4 : (2 sc, 1 inc) x6 (24)
R5 : (3 sc, 1 inc) x6 (30)
R6 : (4 sc, 1 inc) x6 (36)
R7 : (5 sc, 1 inc) x6 (42 )

From R8 to R12* : 1 sc in all 42 stitches (42)
*Between R11 and R12, add the safety eyes in the stitches No. 10 and 17. ( pic. 1)

Then add the second cardboard circle in order to flatten the bottom of the trunk.

Tip : I always add some glue on the back of the safety eyes to make sure they stay in place.

R13 : (5 sc, 1 dec) x 6 (36)
Start stuffing the trunk
R14 : (4 sc, 1 dec) x 6 (30)
As it decreases, continue stuffing
R15 : (3 sc, 1 dec) x 6 (24)
R16 : (2 sc, 1 dec) x 6 (18)
R17 : 1 sc in all 18 stitches (18)
Finish stuffing

The face of Mr. Christmas Tree

The smile : round 11. Put the green cotton yarn over the 3 stitches right in the middle of both eyes. Then, lower the green yarn on the one stitch under ( R10)
Use the green sewing thread to separate the main cotton yarn into two equal parts
( pic. 2 ).

The cheeks : Use the pink cotton thread. They are positioned on the right under the eyes, on 1 stitch ( pic.1 )

The happy eyes : White cotton thread. Wrap the white thread around the safety eye and let it exceed in the same part as on picture 2 👀

Once the face is created, you can sew the Trunk to the bottom of the Crown. You can also glue it 😉

The Star
Yellow yarn & 3 mm hook

R0 : magic circle
R1 : 6 sc in the magic circle (6)
R2 : First stitch : 1 sc
Second stitch 🙁 1sc, 3 ch, 1sc )
Third stitch : 1 sc
Fourth stitch : ( 1sc, 3 ch, 1sc )
Fifth stitch : 1sc
Sixth stitch : ( 1sc, 3 ch, 1sc )

Tip : Make the star branches more pointy :
On the tip of two of your fingers, put some craft transparent glue and
press the ends of the branches ☺️ ( pic. 3 )
Sew the star at the top of your tree

The Tinsel
( 20 inches long )
Red yarn / gold Lurex & 3 mm hook

R1 : ch ( for 20 inches its approximately 70 ch but do not count, only measure the length, its easier ☺️ )
With the green sewing thread, stitch the tinsel all around the crown of your tree. Start from the top and wrap it down.
You can make it longer if you want or make different tinsels with other colors.
