Hi Pumpkins !! Hope you are having a wonderful week ! This week, we are celebrating World Bee Day and I decided to use Mirabel’s pattern to make a giant crochet bee plush. Very easy to made, it’s totally adapted for crochet beginners and the result is super cool.
Lets get started !
At the end of this article, you can find the downloadable pdf pattern 🌸
Supplies
( Since I buy a lot of my supplies on Amazon so I’ve added the links in Italic )
- Black fluffy yarn, I used Funny Uni 17 from Gründl ( 100g ). In the US, it’s quite difficult to find so you can go for Bernat Velvet : here or for the Estako Velvet in Black 1810 ( 100g ) : here
- Yellow fluffy yarn, I used Funny Uni 02 from Gründl ( 100g ). If you don’t find it you can for Bernat Baby Velvet in Sunshine ( 100g ) : here
- Silver sequins thread ( for the wings ), Plassard Pluie d’étoiles ( color 10, 10 g / 130 m ). If you don’t find it, you can use this one : here or here
- White acrylic yarn ( for the wings ), from Red Heart Super Saver in White. Here
- Pink cotton thread ( for the cheeks ), from the Bamboo MN, assortment F. here
- Black cotton thread ( for the smile ), from the Bamboo MN, assortment F. here
- Crochet hooks : 8 mm ( L11) or 10 mm (N15) for the body and 5 mm (H8) for the wings , from this crochet kit : here
The bee on the left was made with a hook size 10 mm and the other one was made with 8 mm. Bigger the hook is, bigger you plush will be. However, the larger the hook, the more the stitches are spaced out and the stuffing can be visible. The yarn I picked was not adapted for a 10 mm hook which, in my opinion, doesn’t look the best.
- Safety eyes: 10 mm if you chose hook 8 mm and 12 mm if you chose hook 10 mm : here
- Black sewing thread, ( 4.5 inches for the bottom of the mouth ), from any sewing kits.
- Polyester Toy stuffing : here
- Darning needle and thin sewing needle. Darning needles are from the crochet kit listed above.
- Round counter : here
- Stitch markers, from the crochet kit listed above.\
- 2 small black chenille stems ( 6 cm (2.4 in ) : from this set here
