You can also purchase at a reduced price the patterns bundle of my 4 gnomes ( 2 small ones and 2 giant ones ) : here
So, if you choose that option, huge, huge THANK YOU for your support, I can keep making my crochet patterns thanks to you 🙂
But, you can also decide to follow the gnome crochet pattern directly on my blog, so let’s get started !
Measurements
- The gnome measures approximately 7.5 inches high x 3 inches wide and it sits down on its own on a flat surface. The size of your gnome can differ according to the tightness of your stitches.
- The use of different supplies from that indicated may vary the final rendering. You don’t have to use the same brand of yarn but the weight category has to be the same for a similar result. If it is difficult for you to crochet with fuzzy yarn, you can buy a piece of fur fabric and put in place of the crocheted beard.
Notes before starting
- Read the gnome crochet pattern completely before you start and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or feedbacks, I will be happy to answer them ( contact me : here )
- For a result similar to the original gnome, it is important to read the crochet pattern at each step so as not to skip instructions given for a specific row. The model requires careful counting of rows and stitches.
- Check the size of the hook before each part.
- Also, don’t hesitate to contact me here if you notice any mistake in the tutorial, thank you
- The numbers placed in parentheses correspond to the number of stitches to have when finishing the row. This allows you to know if it was done correctly. If you have more than the number indicated, it means that you have added stitches. Conversely, if you lack it, you have forgotten it.
- The letters (a,b,c…) at the end of sentences correspond to the pictures.
- If it is indicated “classic finish “, it means: Cut the thread and pass it through the loop to make a knot.
Stitches and techniques used

List of supplies
The use of different supplies from that indicated may vary the final rendering. You don’t have to use the same brand of yarn but the weight category has to be the same for a similar result.

- Hooks : 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 3.5 mm (E4) from this crochet kit : here. All my hooks come from the kit I bought when I started and four years after I still use the same hooks. I think that set is great, because it has all you need as a crochet beginner.
- Yarn ( as long as the weight category is the same, you can pick yarn of the brand that you prefer ( the result will be similar in term of proportions ).

Assembly
Once you are done with the different parts, sew them on the body as shown on the pictures.
I always pin the parts first to make sure I sew them at the right place.
For the arms, sew on R10’s stitches, it will look like the end of the arm blends into the body.
You can sew a small stitch under the gloves to make them stay close to the body.
To sew the hat, you can use the same red cotton yarn that you used to crochet it.
