Hi pumpkins !!! 4th of July is in exactly one week and you’re still looking for crochet inspirations ? No problemo ! I’m offering you this easy crochet plush pattern special beginners. This firecracker popsicle pattern is very simple to follow with only single crochet, increase, decrease and slip stitch. In addition to the PDF file that you can print, I also filmed a full tutorial ( every links are in this post ).

For information, the popsicle measures 12 inches long and 8 inches wide
Supplies
- Blue and red soft and bulky yarns, Fohoma 100g / 55 yards, 5 mm ( 0.18 inch ) thick, color 10 Lake Blue and 9 Red ( from Amazon : here )
- White fluffy yarn, I had left over from my unicorn pattern so I used around 100 g of the Bernat Baby Blanket in white.
- Beige thick acrylic yarn ( for the stick ), such as Soft Chunky Yarn found at Joann.
- Black and white cotton threads ( for the face ), from Lion Brand, ( from Amazon : here )
- Crochet hooks : 10 mm (P) and 5.5 mm (9I)
- Oval ‘’ kawaii ‘’ safety eyes: 16 mm length ( from Amazon : here )
- Toy stuffing from Poly -fil
- Darning needle and thin sewing needle.
- Round counter
- Stitch marker
- Cardboard round of 3.5 inches in diameter.

Stick
( 5.5 mm hook )
Beige yarn
R0 : magic ring
R1 : 6 sc in the magic ring (6)
R2 : 6 inc (12)
R3 > R6 : 1 sc in each stitch (12) ( 4 rounds )
R7 : 1 sl in each stitch (12 )
Cut the thread and make an invisible finish.
Firecracker Popsicle
( 10 mm hook )
Blue yarn
R0 : magic ring
R1 : 6 sc in the magic ring (6)
R2 : 6 inc (12)
R3 : (1 sc, 1 inc) x6 (18)
R4 : (2 sc, 1 inc) x6 (24)
R5 : (3 sc, 1 inc) x6 (30)
R6 : (4 sc, 1 inc) x6 (36)
R7 : (5 sc, 1 inc) x6 (42)
R8 : (6 sc, 1 inc) x6 (48)
Start stuffing
Sew the stick to the bottom of the popsicle. Once it’s done, add cardboard circle at the bottom of the blue part to make it flat. You can add some craft glue to keep it in place.
R9 > R16 : 1 sc in each stitch (48) ( 8 rounds )
Stuff the bottom of the popsicle.
Color change : White yarn
R17* > R25 : 1 sc in each stitch (48) ( 9 rounds )
*On R17, insert cotton threads in the 17th stitch and in the 22nd stitch to mark the positions.
After making R25, add safety eyes where the cotton threads are. Remove the threads.
Face
After R25, embroider the eyebrows ( black cotton ) and the smile ( white cotton ). There is a whole chapter on the embroidery of the elements in the video : here
Color change
Red yarn
R26 : 1 sc in each stitch (48) ( 1 round )
R27 : (6 sc, 1 dec) x6 (42)
R28 : (5 sc, 1 dec) x6 (36)
Keep stuffing little by little
R29 : 1 sc in each stitch (36) ( 1 round )
R30 : (4 sc, 1 dec) x6 (30)
R31 : (3 sc, 1 dec) x6 (24)
R32 : 1 sc in each stitch (24) ( 1 round )
R33 : (2 sc, 1 dec) x6 (18)
R34 : (1 sc, 1 dec) x6 (12)
Then, finish stuffing
R35 : 1 sc in each stitch (12) ( 1 round )
R36 : 6 dec (6)
Leave 6 in. of thread then cut it.
Pass the thread through the loop to tie a knot.
With the thread and a darning needle, pass through the previous 6 stitches to close the circle.
Hide the thread in the head with the needle and then cut what is left.
